Cornell Cooperative Extension staff across New York state have witnessed first-hand how hard our farmers have been working throughout the pandemic to help keep our food system safe and secure. We wanted to come together (digitally) to show our appreciation for all they do on our behalf. Thank you, farmers! You are essential, vital, and so deeply appreciated! Congress recently expanded the Payroll Protection Loan Program, making it more generous to small farm businesses with limited payroll expenses. If your farm recorded gross income of $100,000 or more in 2019, then you may be eligible for a First Draw PPP Loan in excess of $20,000. The PPP Loan is fully forgivable if you use the funds for eligible expenses, document your spending, and apply for loan forgiveness through your PPP lender. As part of a statewide collaboration with the NY Dept. of Ag and Markets, Cornell Cooperative Extension has distributed more than 28,000 gallons of the state’s golden hand sanitizer, packaged by New York to combat price-gouging, plus more than 30,000 two-ounce bottles and nearly 107,000 face coverings to date. For agricultural businesses of all kinds, that distribution affected 46,755 agricultural employees throughout the state. In Ulster County, we have served over 90 farms with over 1,700 gallons of sanitizer and nearly 3,500 face coverings. Hand sanitizer and face masks are available while supplies last. The products are provided free of charge
Please contact your county Extension office to find out more. Visit cce.cornell.edu for contact information.
CCE Ulster thanks the Rondout Valley Growers Association and the NY Army National Guard for their assistance in the distribution of supplies!
