Master Gardener Training Begins Soon
Brewster, NY – Cornell Cooperative Extension announces the 2022 Master Gardener Volunteer Training. This program is for those who are interested in learning more about gardening and the environment and want to share that knowledge with others. Are you passionate about native plants and pollinators? Could you stock a farm-stand with all the extra vegetables from your garden? If you are nodding your head yes to one or all of these, sounds like you would make a great Master Gardener Volunteer!
Master Gardener Volunteers are a dedicated and diverse group of people who combine their passion for gardening with a sincere desire to share their knowledge with the community. Master Gardener Volunteers teach classes, answer questions at farmer’s markets and community events, organize and staff plant sales, and help homeowners solve pest problems on the horticulture hotline.
To become a Master Gardener Volunteer, you will participate in a mix of in-person group practicums on weekends, and self-paced weekly online learning modules through the Moodle platform. Optional evening lectures will be recorded for trainees to review. There is room in the self-paced modules for extra learning if your time or interest allows.
Each Master Gardener Volunteer makes a commitment to 30 hours per year of volunteer activity for Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County’s Environmental Horticulture and Natural Resources educational initiatives. If that sounds like something you’d enjoy, we hope you’ll apply to become a Master Gardener Volunteer.
