History Hike to Mount Nimham

  • Saturday, November 2, 2024, 10:00 AM - 12:30 PM

Join Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County and the Putnam History Museum for a history hike of Mount Nimham Saturday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. Led by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Putnam County, this hike will explore the ways that the mountain’s past has played a role in its environmental present. During the 2.5-hour round trip, hikers will get to see some stone chambers. The Putnam History Museum will also touch on the Indigenous history of the area, including the namesake of the mountain, Sachem Daniel Nimham.

This event is part of the Putnam History Museum's Native American Heritage Weekend 2024, made possible, in part, with grant support from Humanities New York.

This hike is moderate to difficult, due to the uphill course for the first hour. Registration is $12 for History Museum members and $15 for non-members.

Please bring water and a snack!
