Bountiful Meals program aims to provide meals for seniors and individuals where current supportive services fall short. Putnam County Senior Centers offer weekday lunches, leaving seniors without resources for dinner or weekends.
With limited fixed income in an expensive county, individuals might rely on nutritionally poor foods to fill in the gaps. Bountiful Meals addresses these gaps by offering nutrient-dense free meals in Putnam County. The program has expanded to both the Putnam Valley Free Library and CoveCare Center for non-seniors as well! Want to know all the Bountiful Meals freezer sites? Scroll down!
Bountiful Meals offers nutritious produce-filled meals through the community fridge model of “take what you need”. The model also offers meals without needs assessment or eligibility requirements, which makes it possible to serve populations who are food insecure but don’t meet federal guidelines to qualify for SNAP or other emergency food programs, all while serving our community without judgment.
These delicious meals are crafted by the amazing team at Second Chance Foods. Visit their website to discover how they’re making a difference in addressing local food insecurity and reducing food waste.
